Mother of four killed and a young man suffers gunshot after security officers allegedly fired gunshot while chasing a driver in Asaba, Delta state on Tuesday, December 22.
Reports has it that the officers from the newly formed security unit, Operation Delta Hawk, were reportedly chasing a driver known as Joshua,. Joshua allegedly refused to stop and so they allegedly fired gunshots at his car. One of the stray bullet landed on the yet-to-be-identified mother of four, killing her on the spot while Joshua sustained a gunshot wound.
The officers reportedly dragged him out of his car with the gunshot wound before whisking his car away, leaving him to battle for his life. Residents in the area were the ones who allegedly rushed Joshua to the hospital.
Activist, Harrison Gwamnishu shared the sad story online and has vowed to lead a protest in Asaba today to demand justice for the victims.
Operation Delta Hawk was launched by the state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, in November 10 2020 to secure the lives and property of residents of the state. Operation Delta Hawk comprises of different security agencies and vigilante groups.
