I woke up feeling energised and under one hour, I was able to do a lot of things that I mentally noted yesterday in passing. I was doing chores, getting inspired by God’s word and declaring into my day all at the same time. At that point, I felt great and useful then successful.
That led me to pause on taking my bath and share my thoughts about success on my Facebook timeline. It was a “re-revelation”. What is the true meaning of success? How do you measure it?
When people talk about success, I tend to listen not just to learn and emulate but to see how it is defined. Three different people would speak of a person’s success in three different ways.
Do you see how he spent so much money at that party? He is quite successful.
He now wears the latest designs of every outfit. That guy has blown.
He seem happy with what he’s doing and he’s succeeding at it.
Three people looking at a person in three different ways. When the guy in question is asked about his success, he might not think he is successful at all because he’s measuring it differently.
Don’t be quick to judge other people’s success. Success is extremely personal. Measure your success but with your own tape.
Success is not just about factory accomplishments. By factory accomplishments, I mean the basic circle you’re expected to follow. From birth to school, from school to NYSC, from NYSC to white-collar jobs, from white collar jobs to marriage. Don’t let the expectations of other people be your yardstick for success.
Celebrate those little wins, those tough hurdles you cross.Celebrate how far you’ve come and where you’re going.
Stay successful in your own way.
